In a recent BarrieToday feature, Nikki Cole explored the engineering, animation and projection work behind the Halloween display.

“I love entertaining people, especially with special effects and things that are kind of awe-inspiring.”

The feature looks at how a childhood fascination with Halloween displays grew into a 22-minute projection-mapping show built around the shape of the house. It covers the removable projector mount, the mapping process, the animation workflow, the 4,000-lumen projector, and the 94.1 FM audio feed for visitors listening from their vehicles.

The project is also closely connected to the work at 360 Illumination. The residential display is a hands-on creative experiment, while the company’s broader work focuses on outdoor projector enclosures and projection-mapping systems for commercial, event and municipal applications.

Thank you to Nikki Cole and BarrieToday for taking the time to tell the story and for capturing the technical side of a very personal Halloween tradition.
